is a reputed Tamil filmmaker and has the distinction of being Asia’s first woman cinematographer. Spanning a career of over 35 years, she has astutely juggled many hats while working in the Tamil entertainment industry: as a prolific film director, a cinematographer and a writer. Starting off her career as a camera assistant to noted cinematographer for South Indian films – Ashok Kumar, she got her first break as an independent cinematographer through K. Bhagyaraj's Chinna Veedu in 1985. Post that she has cinematographed over twenty films, and directed her first feature film “Paatu Pada Vaa”(1995). The film was nominated in the competitive section for Asian Women Directors, International Film Festival of India in 1996. She has also presided as the official jury for the Chennai International Film Festival and Chennai International Short Film Festival. Currently she is serving as the Vice President of South – TV and Films, for Saregama India.
