Today, Kumar Sanu is a playback legend, but back in the 80s he got his first major break with the help of another legend. It was Jagjit Singh who offered him a chance to sing in films. But Sanu did not begin his singing career in Hindi. His first gig was for a 1986 Bangladeshi film called Tin Kanya, directed by Shibli Sadiq. Winner of countless awards, Sanu went on to become a leading name in Bengali cinema as well. Kumar Sanu has sung over 18,000 songs in 22 languages and was even awarded the lifetime achievement award by the West Bengal government a few years back. Kumar Sanu also holds the world record for recording the maximum number of songs (28) in a single day.
