Farida Jalal was born in New Delhi on March 14, 1949. She completed her education at St Joseph’s Convent in Panchgani. At the Filmfare Awards Ceremony, her talent was recognized, and Chaudhvin Ka Chand was her debut film as a child artist. As an adult, Farida made her acting debut in 1967 with Taqdeer. In 1978, she shot a five-minute scene at the Mumbai Airport for Amitabh Bachchan’s movie Don, but the makers removed it since her role was extending the film’s duration. Farida was married to a famous actor named Tabrez Barmavar. The couple met on the set of Jeevan Rakha and got married in November 1978. Tarbez passed away in 2003. Their son, Yaseen Jalal, is currently pursuing a career in film as a director. With the 1994 film Mammo, she starred in one of the best roles. In the Shyam Benegal-directed film, she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Farida Jalal made her debut as a heroine in Shakti Samanta’s 1969 romantic drama Aradhana, in which she starred opposite Rajesh Khanna. In 1970, the film was nominated for the Filmfare Award for ‘Best Film’ while she was nominated for ‘Best Supporting Actress award. In 1991, she won the Filmfare Award for “Best Supporting Actress” for her work in the romance drama film Henna, directed by Randhir Kapoor and Raj Kapoor.
